Whether you are sitting in your rocker daydreaming of your newborn photos once baby arrives, or you are scrolling while baby is feeding, here’s a quick way to prepare for your Long Island in-home newborn session with me.

Quick Declutter
Two common places I photograph a newborn session are the master bedroom and the nursery (but don’t worry if you don’t have one!). I always suggest clearing off your nightstands before my arrival of anything you don’t want photographed. Like your nursing pads, random tissues, water bottles, old bottles, etc. We all know those night feedings means throwing everything on there! If you don’t want chargers visible either, throw them in the drawer too!
This is a quick clean up, I know you have your hands full! Sometimes it also easy to just throw it all on the side of the room with your dresser.

Nursery
You have worked SO hard to make this sanctuary perfect! A quick tidy and we are set! If you use a Nanit on a stand and don’t want it in the photos, let’s move that out ahead of time.

Snacks for siblings
Clean, easy snacks for siblings goes a long way! I have lots of tricks up my sleeve when it comes to snacks and wrangling siblings! Yogis, puffs, cereal, small pretzels..anything that is small, not going to melt, or leave their mouth a color is a go!
It’s totally okay if baby’s big sister or brother hasn’t held them yet. If you want to practice the week of, that’s great! If they are too little to hold them, no worries at all! Baby’s safety will always come first and we feel them out during the session.
Baby Prep
Feed baby right before I arrive or at my time of arrival. A fed baby is a happy, sleepy baby! If your little one likes to party after they feed, then take that into consideration as well.

General Tips
Wait to dress the kids until I get there. Spills, mystery substances, and poop-splosions happen!
Kid went to a birthday party and has a temporary tattoo? If you don’t want it photographed, let’s take it off ahead of time!
